Back in February Sheldrake Press launched a writing competition…
“Sheldrake Press, publishers of the Wild Guides, are running a travel writing competition this month. Share one of your wild travel experiences with us for a chance to be published on our web-site and win a set of guides to Italy, Britain and Ireland. Whether you have discovered a new spot or returned to an old favourite, we’d like to hear about it.”
I entered the competition with a piece about trekking in the Himalayas, and I’ve just been told that I won. Not only that, but Helen Moat from our own Itinerant Writers Club was runner up! You can read our winning entries on the Sheldrake website.
I can’t wait to pick up my guide books when I return home from India. I’m looking forward to visiting some wild places this summer with the help of the Wild Guide to Britain. And maybe I’ll take the Wild Guide to Ireland when we visit Jamie’s cousin in Dublin. Not sure that I’ll be using the Italian guide any time soon, but if the book is anything like the few pages I managed to read on-line then it should be a unique and illuminating read.
